James Bedford (above) is our second guest speaker at our March 2022 Cluster event ‘Cyber in the Liverpool City Region’. He will be discussing: ‘How does the Digital Tech Cluster help tech start-ups and scale-ups?’.
James’ background
James is creating a new digital tech cluster at Sci-Tech Daresbury for the Science and Technology Facilities Council (part of UK Research and Innovation).
James was also Director of OXO Consultancy, an advisory firm specialising in rapid-growth tech companies. James advised on raising investment finance, scaling digital creative companies and has a network of investors to draw on.
Prior to this, James was Head of Investment Partnerships at Tech Nation and Head of Investment Strategy at Tech North. James was responsible for improving access to finance for tech companies and is focussed on developing new angel networks. He has previously led on the creation of co-investment funds and was responsible for the Digital Powerhouse report which highlighted assets and opportunities in the North for tech companies.
James has also been the Senior Programme Manager at Creative England, responsible for the successful delivery of two access-to-finance programmes, investing around £10m in over 100 companies.
James went to university at Manchester and Staffordshire attaining an MA in Regeneration and Development and a BA in Politics. Born and bred in Wiltshire, James has lived in the North West for 15 years.
